A Proud Day for According to Kate

Wonderful news today from The Wild Bunch Film Festival: both the manuscript and screenplay for According to Kate have been named finalists!
I am deeply grateful that the story of Kate Elder is receiving this recognition. Kate is portrayed brilliantly by the remarkable Manuela Schneider, who brought strength, humanity, and depth to a woman history too often left in the shadows.
I am especially thrilled that the exceptionally talented Craig Hensley has also been named a finalist for “Darling, Oh Darling,” Doc Holliday’s song in the film. The music was magnificently orchestrated by Mauriel Morejon, but the piece was written and sung by Craig. I could not be prouder of him or happier to see his extraordinary work recognized.
A general thank-you to the cast and crew is simply not enough. These artists deserve to be called out by name: Director of Photography Derek Carlson, whose exceptional eye helped create the world of the film; First Assistant Director Robert Clark, whose skill and dedication kept that world moving; incomparable sound designer Danni Valdez, whose work gave it texture and life; and costume designer Karen McKechnie, whose outstanding designs helped transport us into Kate’s time and place.
These gifted professionals work on major motion pictures, and I remain humbled that they gave their time, talent, and hearts to a short film like According to Kate. This recognition belongs to all of them. I am profoundly grateful—and enormously proud.

Thought I’d share the trailer for the film so everywhere can hear a bit of Craig’s work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvMl2nUVSuA
