2015 – The option for the Death Row All Stars ended with 33 Pictures and neither Netflix, Cinemax, or USA want to make Thunder Over the Prairie.

1877 – Dodge City Deputy Marshall Ed Masterson tried to put an end to a quarrel between Ed Shaw and Texas Dick Moore, co-owners of the Lone Star Dance Hall.  All of them got shot up in the melee including an innocent bystander, but happily all recovered fully.

1892 – A sixteen man posse attacked Ned Christie’s fort near Tahlequah, Oklahoma, with a small cannon after firing 30 rounds to no effect the breech failed.

1863 – Future outlaw Tom “Black Jack” Ketchum is born in San Saba County, Texas.

1873 – Joseph Glidden applies for a patent on barbed wire.

1856 – Future cowboy and President, Theodore Roosevelt, is born in New York City.

1881 – Helen Hunt Jackson publishes A Century of Dishonor, an account of the atrocities committed against Indian tribes in the West and indictment of the nation’s reservations policy.  Jackson sends copies of the book to every member of Congress and to most federal officials.

1836 – Sam Huston becomes the first President of Texas.

1836 – Texas is still celebrating Sam Houston.  He became the first President of Texas on October 22, 1836.

1878 – Thomas A. Edison forms the first light company.
